Treat your skin to the purifying power of pure Green Clay. This naturally nutrient-rich clay draws out impurities, absorbing excess oil and toxins to leave skin feeling decongested and renewed.
For centuries, clay has been used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes in many cultures. It is a skincare ritual that hasn’t been lost in time, in fact, most skincare gurus are returning to the basics using the pure form of clay face masks as you see here. The clay is used as a mild exfoliator but also as an effective treatment for skin issues.
The biggest benefit when choosing the pure form of green clay mask is that you can customize your face mask every time depending on how your skin feels.
How to activate and apply it:
Simply mix the finely milled powder with a hydrating base like hydrosol, herbal tea, or even plain water to create your own customized treatment. Use a wooden spoon and non-metallic bowl to mix this mineral-rich treatment. Apply with your hands or a wooden brush for mess-free application. Avoid letting it fully dry, and rinse as soon as you start to feel tightening. Follow up with moisturizer.
Serving suggestions:
Sage face mask, for the days you feel extra oily:
Use sage hydrosol as your wet ingredient or prepare a small portion of tea with organic sage leaves, sieve, and let it cool. Use a wooden or ceramic bowl to mix one tablespoon of green clay with one tablespoon of hydrosol/ sage tea. Use the mask all over the face and let it be semi-dry. This is really important: Do not let the mask dry completely on your face, as soon as you feel it pulling, spray the face with a toner, or make it wet with some water before you rinse it thoroughly. You will notice smoother, cleaner, healthier-looking skin! Follow up with your moisturizer. Use this recipe once every 10 days to keep your skin balanced.
Tea-tree face mask, for the days with an acne flare-up:
Use chamomile hydrosol or prepare a small portion of tea with chamomile flowers, sieve, and let it cool. Chamomile will calm inflammation and redness. Once it’s at room temperature, add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil to one cup of tea*. Use a wooden or ceramic bowl to mix one tablespoon of green clay with one tablespoon of chamomile tea. Use the mask all over the face and let it be semi-dry. *1-2 tablespoons of tea will be needed for the mask. Use the rest brew as a hair lotion on itchy scalp 30’ before showering.
Skin type:
Oily and combination complexions will love its ability to clarify congested pores, while normal types will appreciate its smoothing effect. Despite its instant toning and softening results, don’t overuse this powerful mask. Once weekly is perfect for normal/oily skin, while drier types will thrive with bi-weekly treatments.
Why choose a clay powder mask?
While many beauty masks come in pre-made, packaged form, we’ve opted to provide pure, natural clay powder that allows for flexibility and customization:
- Using a simple clay powder gives you the ability to activate it exactly when you need it, rather than having a premixed mask that begins holding light exposure, making it go bad more quickly. With a pure clay powder, you can simply mix it with a liquid base like water, tea, aloe vera juice, or even yogurt or kefir, when you’re ready to use it, allowing you to make it fresh each time. This helps avoid unnecessary additives or preservatives that come with a pre-made mask.
- The clay powder also gives you the flexibility to customize the texture and consistency each time, making a thicker or thinner mixture based on your particular needs. You can add additional ingredients like essential oils, herbs, or vitamin-packed produce for specific benefits or skin-nourishing properties.
- A pure clay powder delivers the ability to create a totally natural, fresh skin treatment each time, full of antioxidants or soothing botanicals, without unnecessary additives. Beyond just hydrating, pure clay powders pave the way for a cleansing, detoxifying, skin revival.
